To be like minded

Hi there everyone

Melissa Britton here! Trust you all are doing well?

I would like to raise the subject on friendships and whom you seek counsel.

Question: If you had a problem with your car will you take it to maybe a geographer whom knows nothing about cars or a motor mechanic who can tell you exactly what the problem is?

I am also reminded of the principle found in Amos. "Can two walk together, except they be agreed" (Amos 3:3). Friends are of like mind. A friend is one whom you can be yourself with and never fear that they will judge you or your family no matter what you tell them in private. A friend is someone that you can confide in with complete trust. A friend is someone you respect and that respects you, not based upon worthiness but based upon a likeness of mind.

This is something that troubled my heart for quite a while. Why are we as Christians so eager at making friends without really knowing what we need in each of those friendships, I have come across many people who have friendships where they seek counsel they feel is worthwhile and yet the friendship is not like minded.

For example, if I were to marry one day and start a family, I would try and refrain from influential friendship with people who are single, but counsel them instead. I wouldn’t want my future husband to have single friends either. It is all in the state of like mindedness that friendships build and get stronger.
Instead, we as a married couple will start obtaining friendships with other married couples or people who are married longer than us and either share what we are going through or have been where we are now with no judgment towards me my spouse or my family.

This is not only

God’s principles are the best way to live in a society that allows anything to go. We need to consider that we live but it’s not our lives, as Christians we are to abide by principles that God has set for us. It is a privilege to carry that name to remember that Christ is with in us and the question “What would Jesus do?”

Spiritual Hunger and God’s Word

Spiritual Hunger

Hunger
: to crave food, any craving or strong desire

Luke 6:21
Blessed are you who hunger now for you will be satisfied.

John 6:35
Jesus declared; “I am the bread of life, he who comes to Me will never go hungry, and he who believes in Me will not go thirsty.”

Question: What type of hunger is the Word of God talking about?

Answer: Spiritual Hunger

Spiritual hunger is a deep hunger or desire, a hunger for rightousness, to live good, humble and a right life like Jesus.
Like with anyone that we would like to become or be like in the future we need to get to know that person or find out what that person is about, isn’t that so?
So when we want to be like Jesus we need to get to know Jesus by reading the Word of God.

That brings me to the next point:

God’s Word

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is God - breathed, and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The Bible is not a book of human ideas about God.
Through the Holy Spirit, God revealed His purpose and plan to certain believers who wrote down His message for His people.

Question: Is Gods word trustworthy?

Answer: Yes!!!!!
Gods word is trustworthy because God was in control of its writing. Its Gods breathe from beginning to end, to be used to teach and guide your conduct.

Last verses prove its alive:

Luke 24:1-9
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. ……..they found the body was gone…… remember He told you while He was still with you in Galilee; ‘The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’……

Luke 24:45
Then He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them. “This is what is written: the Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, …..

The heard the Word without the understanding of God and the Holy Spirit in verses 1-9, so they expected to still find Jesus in the tomb, then when they didn’t find them they were shocked.

And so then later on we see That Jesus appeared to tem and with the Holy Spirit their minds were opened and they began to understand God’s Word.

That’s what we need to do when we cant understand what the word of God is saying to us, besides asking and consulting the people around us. We need to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help us and open our minds to understand and put Gods Word in action so we can become more like Jesus.
